whoot! whoot!- Week 1

Hey family and friends!!!
WOW! This has seriously been one of the longest week and a half of my life! But also one of the bests! I am soooo glad that I get to be here learning the word of God. Everyone says that french is the language of love but Spanish is the language of converstion!! haha. Any ways the language has actually been very difficult but I have been really relying on the Lord in everything I do. Every night we get from 9 till 10 30 to prepare for the next day and just wrap everyting up from that day. We get time to write in a journal and that has been sooo cool for me because I wasn't so good at that before I left but I'm going strong and haven't missed. We get a morning class every day that lasts about 4 ours and we ave an afternoon class that lasts about 4-5 hours. The food here really isn't that bad!! Lots of American Food and lots of Mexican food!! great preview before I get to try all of those crazy mexican dishes.... haha!! I'm actually excited to try them all. My Companion is from Utah.... Who woulda thought that! hehehe.. He's really awesome and loves to play soccer so that is pretty cool! Anyways!! The gospel is so true and I am so glad that I get to teach the people here in Mexico City. It is really a tender mercy that I get to stay right here next to the Mexico City Training Center. The days are long and the weeks are short. I love every single one of you and love hearing from you all!!!

First Email Home

Hello family! I am here at the CCM and everything is going good so far! It has been an awesome experience and I cant wait to learn more spanish! Well..... I basically am awful at spanish and I cant really communicate with anyone at all. So thats a bummer but oh well! We get pizza tonight for dinner and oooooo yummm im excited! It only took us about an hour to get here to the CCM (MTC). But wow, it is so cool to see that this is right where I will be serving! I love it so much. I can already feel the love I have for the people here and I am just amazed at how different of a lifestyle they live. Garbage EVERYWHERE and its stinky and just really run down. While flying in I saw so many houses and buildings. That was insane. I cant believe there are that many people here in Mexico City. Anyways, I love you guys and this is the craziest but best thing Ive done in my entire life. I already feel the love and prayers offered up on my behalf. You all are so wonderful and I know you are blessed because of your faith. Until Next time!!
Love,
Elder Ricks

The Adventure Begins

June 18, 2019
We dropped Elder Ricks off at the airport this morning and said our final goodbyes for two years. There were about 8 other Missionaries headed to the Mexico MTC with him from Idaho Falls. We can't wait for his first email home!

Missionary

June 17th, 2019
Carson was set apart to be a Missionary tonight. President Wright got to do it and it was such a great blessing. When we got home Carson and Todd gave me (mom) a Priesthood blessing which was so nice. We are sure going to miss Elder Ricks

Farewell

June 9, 2019
Today was Carson's Farewell. He had so much support. The church building was packed and we served about 150 for lunch. We had sloppy joes and pulled pork, salads, chips, Jaritos to drink and Mexican Ice Cream Bars for dessert.
With all the people we didn't get very many pictures but managed to get a few.

Consulate

April 25, 2019

Today Carson flew from Idaho Falls to Las Vegas for his Consulate meeting to get his Visa. He went by himself, got an UBER, had the meeting, ate lunch, got the VISA and came home all in one day!
He is now set with all documents needed and ready to go to Mexico!

Mission Call

Feb 12, 2019

Carson received his mission call today! He will be serving in Mexico, Mexico City Southeast Mission and will be leaving on June 18th! He is super excited.
Our family was on our way home from vacation, when we landed in SLC he got a notification that his call was ready! Todd and Tyson were on a different flight to Phoenix so we found a corner in the airport and face timed them and he opened the call!
